TYGS is run by its maintainers (curators and developers). TYGS does not have its own scientific advisory board. However, as TYGS is part of the DSMZ Digital Diversity database collection, the DSMZ Digital Diversity Expert Committee also oversees TYGS. This Expert Committee, which operates independently of the DSMZ Scientific Advisory Board, was established to help meet the growing demands of coordinating an increasing number of highly interlinked DSMZ databases. TYGS is also the sister databases of LPSN and therefore in close contact with the International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes.
